Community invited to underage drinking prevention town hall

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Groups like "Mothers against Drunk Driving" and the "National Council on Alcoholism" invite you to their underage drinking prevention town hall at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Part of the goal is to educate the community about the consequences of underage drinking. Another goal behind the public forum is to empower the community to stop young adults from drinking adult beverages.

"We lose over 6,000 lives a year due to underage drinking and I just feel like one life is bad enough, but 6,000 people are killed due to underage drinking so it's very important that we make a difference," said Shantay Griffith, the Youth Programs Specialist for Mississippi's Mothers against Drunk Driving.

The town hall will take place inside of the community room at the Pearl Police Department. That's located at 2420 Old Brandon Road in Pearl.
