Court orders re-sentencing in incest case

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state Court of Appeals has ordered a judge to re-sentence a former Warren County deputy sheriff convicted of incest.

London Williams was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to 10 years with seven years to serve and five years of post-release supervision.

On appeal, Williams contended his sentence exceeded the maximum sentence for incest. State law provides for a maximum 10-year sentence.

The Appeals Court said Tuesday that Williams was correct that the seven years to serve plus five years of post-release supervision exceeded what was allowed by law. The case now goes back to Warren County for re-sentencing.

Court records show Williams had sex with his 20-year-old daughter in May 2010. Williams contended the sex was consensual.
