PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A portion of El Dorado Road has reopened. It was closed Wednesday afternoon after survey crews found what appeared to be a pipe bomb or some other kind of incendiary device.
It was spotted in wooded area. Police were called in and they closed a two-mile section of El Dorado Road, starting at Old Brandon Road.
A bomb squad from Clinton was summoned to help evaluate the suspicious device.
Pearl police Lieutenant Butch Townsend says they determined it was not an immediate threat.
"We don't know what it is. We don't know how long it's been there. So, we've asked the experts to come in and have a look at this thing, assess it, and see what we need to do with it from here," said Townsend
