Marijuana operation found in Jackson bedroom

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Narcotics Unit for the Hinds County Sheriff's Department busted a marijuana operation inside the bedroom of a Jackson home.

Around five Wednesday evening, deputies arrested James Bennett, 38, of 5511 Queen Mary Lane. Captain Joseph Daughtry says officers have had the house under surveillance for the last two months after receiving complaints.

Inside they found about $30,000 in marijuana plants, and everything needed to help the plants grow, including a temperature gauge, artificial lighting, and root booster. Scales were set up inside and Daughtry says some of the plants were ready to be packaged for distribution.

Bennett is being charged with possession and manufacturing marijuana, and possession of cocaine. Officers confiscated a revolver, crack and powder cocaine.

More charges could be filed in the case.
