JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Divers recovered the body of a Jackson teenager from a pond Saturday night following what investigators believe was a tragic fishing accident.
The drowning happened in pond behind a home in the 5200 block of Shaw Road.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart identified the drowning victim as 18-year-old Scott Adam Helm Jr. of Jackson.
J.P.D. officers were called to the scene shortly before 8 p.m.
Investigators said Helm was fishing along the bank with his sister at the private pond when he stepped too close to the edge and fell into the water.
He could not swim.
Dive teams pulled his body from the water around 10:45 p.m.
