Rankin Co. man killed in accident with 18-wheeler

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An accident involving an 18-wheeler claimed the life of a Sandhill man Monday.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a white 1996 Buick Regency driven by Kenneth Lipskomb, 72, was traveling west on Carter Creek Lane.

A red Peterbuilt semi driven by Jimmie Jones of Walnut Grove was traveling north on Highway 43 in Rankin County.

Lipskomb failed to yield the right of way and was struck in the driver side by the truck.

He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Lipskomb was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
