Hinds election commissioner misses qualifying deadline

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County's District 2 Election Commissioner has missed the deadline to qualify to run for re-election.

The deadline to submit paperwork was June 4 at 5pm. But the Chancery Court confirms that Bobbie Graves did not submit until 9:28am on June 5. We're told all other commissioner candidates met the proper deadline.

Graves was first elected to the post four years ago.

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors will have the final say on whether Ms. Graves' name will appear on the ballot.
