Copiah Co. man indicted for insurance fraud

COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Crystal Springs man is in jail after being indicted for insurance fraud. Redonda Lasaun Smith, 30, was arrested by investigators with the Attorney General's Office after allegedly filing a false insurance claim in an attempt to receive money from the Mendota Insurance Company in Minnesota.

Smith faces up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine if found guilty. He is currently being held in the Copiah County Detention Center.

Smith is scheduled for arraignment in Copiah County Circuit Court Friday morning at 9 a.m.
