Residents complain, Byram water line break fixed

BYRAM, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Byram residents are one step closer to a dry yard after crews fix a water line break.

Residents in the Barrington subdivision say the leak started sometime Wednesday evening.

They say after multiple calls to Jackson, which supplies water to Byram, crews arrived to fix the problem about 5 P.M. Friday.

The workers told residents there was a break in the service line to a meter.

An excavator was used to find where the water was coming from.

Residents are relieved the work was being done before there was major damage to the neighborhood.

"I was just afraid it was just going to erode the soil til half of my yard would be at the end of the cul-de-sac," says homeowner Shirley Russell.

Russell says the crews finished up the work in a couple of hours.

She says they also filled in the hole, repaired her yard, and cleaned off the sidewalk before leaving.
