Hands-Only CPR training at Trustmark Park

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Fathers and sons tossed the ball around at Trustmark Park this Father's Day and got some life saving tips while at the ballpark.

The Mississippi Braves teamed up with American Medical Response to teach a CPR method using only your hands.

The Bee Gees song "Stayin' Alive" has the right amount of beats to keep a person's heart pumping.

You're also more likely to remember the popular tune.

Many consider the Hands-Only training a better alternative to traditional CPR methods.

"At first we used to have to administer mouth to mouth and then do the compressions. Well, now we're telling you to go to the tune of "Stayin' Alive," 100 beats per minute. You can help save someone in your family's life," says American Heart Association Communications Director Christiana Williams.

The American Heart Association says the Hands-Only technique could double, possibly even triple a victim's chance of survival.
