Posted: Updated:

Military veterans, their relatives and high achievers from urban areas will get tuition breaks at Jackson State University.

The State College Board voted Thursday to allow JSU to waive out of state tuition for certain students. Students who major in science, technology, engineering or math are also included.

Starting next fall, JSU will charge $5,988 a year for Mississippians and $14,676 for most out of state undergraduates.

JSU will become the first university in the state to waive out of state tuition.
