Friends raise money for injured Air National Guardesman

Senior Mastor Sergeant James Bennett, Jr., 45, a loadmaster, at the 172nd Military Airlift Command in Rankin County, was seriously injured in this the truck motorcycle accident, which happened the afternoon of June 15th, in front of the Regions Bank branch on Spillway Road just east of Old Fannin Road.

He was lucky not to suffer brain, spinal or serious organ injury, but it is expected he could spend six months in the hospital from other injuries, and be out of work for a year.

Sgt. Bennett's friends in the military are trying to raise money to help his wife and family of four children.

"They need your help and support to survive and pay the bills, and maintain a normal life. Is there anything you would like to say to someone considering donating to the family? ah you would be helping out a great guy, in a time of need. Sgt.bennett is the definition of what a good guardsman should be. A citizen soldier volunteer, everybody that knows him, loves him, worldwide. So what I think we should do as a community is kinda wrap our arms around him by going to regions bank and donating a little bit of money. He has given to his country and he has given to the state of Mississippi, and with what has happened to him now that we should help him.>(stand up close)sgt. Bennett has a very responsible job as loadmaster on these giant c-17 aircraft. He is responsible for everything behind the cockpit to the tail, for cargo and passengers. He is expected to make a full recovery. Bert case wlbt news at the 172nd military airlift wing.
