Families enjoy "Breakfast with the Otters"

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Our friends at the zoo need to eat too, so on Saturday morning, families came out for breakfast with the otters!

Tables were set up in front of the otter display at the Jackson Zoo for children to enjoy breakfast, and learn about the otters' habitat. Otters are mammals with long, thin bodies, short limbs, and webbed paws. They're considered semi-aquatic animals, and they are playful by nature.

Organizers of the event say it's a great way for employees to reach out to zoo visitors.

"It's one of the many events we hold at the zoo. This one tends to be more of our members that come out, Friends of the Zoo. They connect with the kids, it's just a personal touch we can have," says Carol Woodson with the Jackson Zoo.

Visitors also got to see the beavers and bears during the "Breakfast with the Otters" event.
