Debby threatens the Gulf Coast & the heat becomes more intense

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Our immediate forecast indicates that the heat cranks up in a major way, with a high of 99 degrees expected. The winds will be North at 10-15mph, and not provided much relief from the serious heat. The chances of rain are less than 10%, and the main focus in our area is on Debby.

The computer models are still in disagreement on where Tropical Storm Debby will end up. Overall they have shifted more to the east towards Florida, which would mean no immediate direct impact from Debby on our weather.

There are still at least two of the computer models that bring Debby west. If this does happen, it would mean we would see impacts from the system in terms of rain or even severe weather later this week.

Back to our local forecast, tonight  lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Our daytime highs will be in the upper 90s. Factor in our humid air mass and it will make it feel like the lower 100s to your body.

Tomorrow we'll 'cool down' to the mid 90s, for a pseudo- break from the heat before in kicks back in again. Fortunately the winds will be from the north, at least making it bearable as the temps rise again by the end  of the work week. By Friday we're expecting a high of 100 degrees.
