Marijuana, vehicles and even a house were seized in a raid in Edwards Monday.
Hinds county authorities said they've taken down a major player in drug distribution with the afternoon arrest by the Investigative and Narcotics Units.
David D. Wilson, known on the streets as Meathead, was taken into custody by Hinds County Deputies following a three month undercover operation.
"I wasn't selling marijuana in front of the kids. They're lying on me," said Wilson as he was led from his home in handcuffs.
Deputies raided his Willie V. Crump Lane home in Edwards and confiscated a half a pound of marijuana.
Wilson denied selling drugs and said he is innocent.
"This has put a major dent in this particular area," said Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis.
The 34 year old is charged with three counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, one count of conspiracy to sell and one count of child endangerment.
"Our investigator was able to come in and purchase from this particular home, and kids were living here or in the presence at the time of sales," said Lewis.
No children were present during the raid.
Deputies seized two luxury vehicles, one bearing a tag that supports a children's hospital, a big screen television and more items from inside the home.
"This is Edwards. This is a small town, and it's kind of dominated by one or two particular individuals who control the territory," added the sheriff.
Across the street relatives, who did not want to comment, watched as Wilson was escorted by law officers and transported to the Raymond Detention Center.
His uncle was allowed to take custody of his pit bull.
The sheriff said this arrest gives relief to residents and is evidence of their continuing efforts to aggressively go after major players in the drug trade as well as street level dealers.
Sheriff Lewis said more arrests are pending including Wilson's girlfriend and at least two other individuals.
