1 hospitalized after attempted carjacking

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating a shooting that hospitalized one person Friday.

The victim drove himself to University of Mississippi Medical Center in a tan 2002 Cadillac DeVille Friday.

Preliminary reports are that it stemmed from an attempted carjacking that occurred at the intersection of Ellis and Capitol streets.

The man who was shot in the leg is said to have non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they have one person in custody for questioning.  They are facing charges of aggravated assault.
