Driver ejected in fatal crash

SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Simpson county man was killed at the scene of a one vehicle crash Saturday morning.

Corporal Odis Easterling with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the fatal accident happened at 6:20 a.m. On Highway 49, five miles north of Mendenhall.

24-year-old Zachary K. Jones of Mendenhall died after being ejected.

Investigators said Jones was driving south on Highway 49 in a 2000 Toyota truck when he ran off the road, over corrected and overturned.

He was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Jones was not wearing a seat belt.

An investigation is ongoing.
