Heat advisory through Sunday evening

Posted: Updated:

A heat advisory remains in place over all of central and much of south Mississippi through Sunday evening. This means little relief from the extreme heat and muggy conditions is expected tonight, with a return to heat indices near 105 on Sunday afternoon.

Our highs will remain well above normal through much of the next week, though I do expect a slight cool down with highs in the middle 90s by mid-week.

Our rain chances remain small, with a pop-up shower or storm possible in the afternoon or evening hours just about any day. Our rain chances may get a little better later next week as high pressure weakens and drifts back to our west. This could allow a strong storm complex or two to move in from the north or northeast. This is highly uncertain, but needs to be watched as strong winds would be possible if this type of situation developed.
