Some Hinds County deputies will soon have a new ride to replace an aging fleet of vehicles.
Sheriff Tyrone Lewis says a number of patrol cars and transport vans have high mileage and need to be replaced.
Hinds County supervisors recently approved a plan to lease-purchase ten patrol cruisers and two transport vans.
The sheriff's department uses more than 40 vehicles, most of them have more than 100,000miles on them.
Lewis also believes maintenance costs will drop as a result of the purchases.
The new vehicles will cost the county about $310,000 over the next six years.
