The Hinds County supervisors have fired Emergency Operations Center Director Jimmy Lewis. In a three to one vote Lewis was let go at Monday morning's meeting. He was hired in 2009 to replace Larry Fisher.
Fisher's former long time assistant, Ricky Moore, was offered the EOC Director position. Moore was passed over for the position when Fisher was hired.
In the meantime, current assistant EOC Director Joey Perkins has been given the interim title.
According to District 4 Supervisor Phil Fisher, if Moore turns down the job Perkins will be appointed permanently.
Fisher says was against hiring Lewis in the first place. He says Lewis had very little training and few contacts to be the E.O.C. Director. Fisher also cited "very little progress" in the office as another reason he voted to let Lewis go.
