JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Three house burglars were caught in the act in northeast Jackson Monday afternoon. It happened at 5428 Jamaica Drive, just east of I-55 near the intersection of Wayneland Drive.

Thanks to calls from neighbors, police were able to arrive on the scene in time to see the burglars coming out of the house. Officers were able to engage in foot pursuit as the burglars tried to run away and all three of them were caught. It is the second time homeowner Jarrod Peters has been burglarized recently and he was happy they were caught this time.

"I just got home from eating with my family and saw a bunch of police out here and I guessed we'd gotten robbed. When I came in, anyway, they caught them pretty quick, when they were leaving so I am glad to see that," said Peters.

Johnny Wright was visiting his sister across the street and saw some of what happened.

"Coming out of his house and I guess they broke in there. But they was on them, so they couldn't get away. So, you know they did a good job, didn't nobody get hurt or nothing, so you know good job by the police," said Wright.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green identified those caught.

"The police immediately arrived on the scene and was able to apprehend these suspects, Ontario Williams, 18 years of age, along with Akkoyea Clayton, 19 years of age and a 17-year- old juvenile was arrested on scene," said Green.

Police recovered a flat screen television set that had already been loaded into a car used by the burglars.
