Sound Off: Serving the Public

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

I have the utmost respect for elected officials. Most elected officials feel called to public service and take their elective offices seriously. Then there are those elected officials who once elected feel some sort of entitlement to stay in office and don't have to live by any rules.

Hinds County Election Commissioners, who are in charge of the election process, don't even know the rules of how to file for office. City Councilmen that don't attend meetings or work sessions. Supervisors who may not be physically able to govern effectively.

If you run for office you should be prepared to serve the public that elected you and when they are not we the voters must remind them by not reelecting them. Voters get the government they deserve.
