JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some of the ballet world's most outstanding performers returned to the Thalia Mara Hall stage Saturday night.

The USA International Ballet Competition Reunion Gala brought world champion dancers back to the Capitol City for one night only.

City Dance Children of the IBC performed during the opening ceremony.

They are Jackson Public School students ages 7 to 12.

More than 34,000 people attended the two week USA IBC event in 2010.

The Reunion Gala is held every other year.

"That's bringing back past medal winners and finalists and guest performers to this community to keep the interest alive about the IBC which of course is every four years," said USA IBC Executive Director Sue Labrano.

William "Billy" Mounger was presented a gold medal for his efforts in single handedly raising more than $10 million dollars for the IBC.
