Former Pearl city prosecutor jailed

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Former Pearl city prosecutor Jason Zebert has been arrested in Chancery Court on charges contempt of court. Zebert, who resigned from the city of Pearl last September, had guardianship over the estate of a disabled veteran.

The 43-year-old is accused of misappropriating as much as 100-thousand dollars of the estate and was ordered to repay it by today in Chancery Court. He did not and was promptly arrested by Rankin County Sheriff's deputies.

Zebert is now in the Rankin County Jail where he has been ordered to stay until he repays the funds.
