JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Several residents in the Jackson-metro made it a priority Thursday morning to participate in the "Summer Blood Drive", which is going on until 6 PM at the Mississippi Blood Services in Flowood. Many have already donated blood and platelets and by the end of the day the blood center hopes to have at least 250 units of new blood.
There's a severe shortage of donated blood in the Magnolia State right now, according to MBS's Tony Bahou. He said half of the blood in stock has been imported from out of state.
When you give blood you can help up to three people. Everyone who is at least 17-years-old and 110 pounds is encouraged to come out and donate.
The address to the Mississippi Blood Services is 115 Tree Street in Flowood.
