JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Afternoon thunderstorms brought heavy rain in a short period of time, causing flash flooding in downtown Jackson Thursday.
The viaduct on Monument and Mill streets often floods when there's heavy rain, and today was no exception. Some cars were partially submerged in the water.
There was flooding on Fortification Street at Blair Street.
Fortification was turned into a river, but the water was not high enough to get into houses. Children watched from a front porch as the rain came down.
Belhaven Creek, which is usually a quiet trickle, was transformed into a rushing river at Wood Dale Drive and Cavalier Drive.
