Old Fannin Rd. being widened to 5 lanes

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Work is about to begin to widening Old Fannin Road in Rankin County from Spillway Road to the Flowood city limits.

The project is expected to start around the end of August and take up to two years. The road carries more than 25,000 cars a day including those who live around the reservoir.

The road will be widened from the present three lanes to five with bike lanes both ways.

Old Fannin Road was widened from two lanes to three in 2004.

An engineer and Supervisor Wood Brown say the road will remain open with either two or three lanes during the two-year construction.
