A Warren County man will remain behind bars after being denied bond Monday morning.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Clarence Jones stabbed his ex-girlfriend multiple times Friday night at the Ameristar Casino in Vicksburg. He is charged with aggravated assault.

Twenty-three-year-old Jordan Melton was at work when she was attacked. Melton received cuts to her back, torso and hands. She also suffered a collapsed lung.

At the time of the stabbing, Jones was out on bond on other charges.

According to investigators, there is a history of domestic problems between the two.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong described the attack inside the casino as "vicious."

Armstrong said Jones showed up on the boat, followed Melton and used a pocket knife in the attack.

Police say there was already a restraining order against Jones from Warren County. Jones' attorney declined comment following the court hearing.

Saturday afternoon, Melton was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
