PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Police have arrested a man in connection with a theft at a home in the Patrick Farms subdivision in Rankin County. The individual has been identified as Rodney Bret Shows, Jr.  He is 23 years old.  Pearl police say Shows who lives part time in Hattiesburg and part time in Pearl is currently in the Rankin County jail.  He is scheduled to appear in Pearl Municipal court for an arraignment and bond Wednesday morning.

The investigation into thefts at Patrick Farms subdivision is ongoing.

Shows sported a casual look Tuesday and handcuffs as he was hauled into jail by a Pearl Police Department detective. He kept his head down and refused comment.

Police say he took a set of very expensive golf clubs from a home on Wildberry Drive July 18. The next day, the man shows up at a Ridgeland store that consigns and purchases sports items. The suspect tried to sell the clubs and other equipment worth more than $5,000.

His clothing, and the fact Shows refused to show his identification aroused suspicion, according to Pearl detective Jake Windham.

"The 23 year old entered Play It Again Sports in pajama pants, tank top, orange cap and he also had boots on. This is not something, obviously not consistent with what golf attire is."

He actually returned to the store again Tuesday afternoon to try and sell the items again.
