JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A veteran Jackson firefighter arrested on a false pretense charge Friday made his initial appearance in court Tuesday afternoon.

Mike Graziosi, 50, was arrested last Thursday and charged with one count of false pretense.

Hinds County authorities say the fire department captain allegedly went into the Pilot Truck Stop on Gallatin Street where he illegally assumed the identify of a truck driver.

Graziosi allegedly asked for a company check advance, which was granted and he then cashed the $575 check.

He was arrested in 2002, but sued the city of Jackson and was eventually reinstated with captain's duties and benefits.

Hinds County investigators say their investigation is ongoing.
