JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The 2012 Summer Olympics are off to a great start in London. But the City of Jackson does not want to be outdone.
Saturday morning, a few employees and citizens let their athletic spirit shine during Jackson's Olympic Fun Day. It took place at Parham Bridges Park. The event is part of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign. Other Olympic Fun Days are taking part across the nation.
Jackson Police Spokeswoman Colendula Green says Mayor Harvey Johnson has received a special designation as part of the nationwide campaign.
"Our mayor, Harvey Johnson, was one of the mayors out of 12 mayors nationally recognized to take part in this Let's Move Campaign," she says.
The First Lady says the best way to cheer on our Olympic athletes, is to get physical ourselves.
