Two Magee policemen are credited with going above and beyond to save the home of an elderly man.
Magee Police Officers Calvert Sims and Ronnell McDaniel prevented the home of Willie McDonald from burning to the ground.
McDonald's security system alerted police to a fire around 11: 30 Sunday morning.
When officers arrived at his 9th Street home they looked around, saw no smoke and nothing unusual and could have left.
Instead they tracked Mr. McDonald to his church and asked him to return to his home.
Smoke and fire rushed out when he opened the door.
He had left something cooking on the stove.
Had officers Sims and McDaniel not gone the extra mile officials said the Magee resident's house could have been destroyed.
