An unsafe, eyesore property, that sits across the street from a Jackson school was torn down Tuesday morning.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, along with officials from Hinds County and Jackson Public Schools held a press conference at 906 Maple Street.
The abandoned house is adjacent to Lanier High School. It is one of 39 tax forfeited parcels being deeded over by the State of Mississippi to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors.
The county's public works department brought in a backhoe to demolish the structure.
The deeded properties will eventually be turned into gardens and green spaces.
