JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
An employee in the Hinds County District Attorney's Office has been arrested.
WLBT News has confirmed that a clerk in District Attorney Robert Shular Smith's office has been charged with two counts of accepting bribes to influence criminal cases.
According to the Attorney General's office, 51-year-old Steven Walter tried to manipulate the outcome of cases and is charged with two counts of accepting bribes.
Walters' bond has been set at $50,000. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years behind bars.
