While Team USA is nailing down gold in numerous Olympic events in London, one Mississippi Braves player knows the feeling of having a medal around his neck at an international level.
Inside the MBraves locker room you might hear outfielder Tim Smith give an occasional "Go Canada" cheer during the London Olympics.
"Anytime I get a chance to talk some smack when Canadians take over the USA, you better believe they'll hear an earful of me," said Smith.
Smith, a Toronto, Ontario native, will not get to watch much of the Summer Olympic Games due to the MBraves schedule, but that doesn't mean he will be lacking the Canadian Pride.
"Anytime there is an international event, I try to take a keen look at Team Canada. I know the USA is a powerhouse, but you know I have to pull for the Canucks," Smith laughed.
Smith knows a thing or two about playing in an international event.
He was part of the Canadian National Baseball Team that won bronze in both the 2009 and 2011 Baseball World Cup games.
He won Gold with Team Canada in the 2011 Pan-American games in Mexico.
A feeling that never fades.
