Hinds jailhouse shakedown

RAYMOND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

S.W.A.T. teams have returned to the Hinds County Jail in Raymond, but this time on the offensive. Captain Joseph Daughtry says a 'shakedown' was conducted at the jail Thursday morning.

Officers and K-9 units from Hinds County, Jackson, Ridgeland, the city of Madison, and Madison county participated.

The teams went cell by cell searching for contraband. No word yet if they found anything.

The Sheriff's department says it does this type of exercise periodically.

Monday, Pod C at the jail was destroyed by rioting inmates.
