Bolton alderwoman files assault charge

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Bolton alderwoman claims she was physically attacked at a board meeting Tuesday night.

Addie Green claims a man named Terrance Sanders left the meeting briefly and returned with an angry look in his eyes.

She produced an audio recording of what happened next. You can hear screams and scuffling with someone shouting "stop"!

Green said, "He tried to choke me. He did choke me and my neck is in pain, so I had to go to the hospital so that I could get some pain medicine or an x-ray to find out were there any major damage."

Green was in Hinds County Justice Court to file a simple assault affidavit against Sanders.

She said four law enforcement officers were in the board room when the alleged assault occurred, but they did not arrest Sanders.

Green says she's not sure why Sanders attacked her, but she claims the leadership in Bolton is out of control and she plans to alert the Justice Department and the FBI.

Green says she was also assaulted by fellow alderman Jimmy Lewis and that case goes to Justice Court Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
