RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Folks got a taste of the upcoming Southern Crossroads Music and Tamale Festival on Thursday night in Ridgeland.

Two musical acts, Hope Waits and Strung Like a Horse, hit the stage at Burgers and Blues for preview performance.

The outdoor concert gave customers a sneak peak at the musical talent that will be at the two festival, which begins Friday.

There will also be cooking demonstrations.

The Tamale Festival will be indoors at the Mississippi Coliseum and the menu is set for a rocking good time.

"Great drink, great food, great music. It's not a concert. Most people go to the coliseum thinking, you know, to see a concert, this is a festival. You can actually leave and come back," explains Festival Producer Patrick LeBlanc.

Doors open at 5:30 Friday evening. The festival will wrap up Saturday night.
