FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Franklin County deputies took a man into custody after he allegedly assaulted a man and his pregnant wife while high on drugs.
Investigators said Jeffrey Davis went to a home at 7742 Highway 63 in Franklin County to look at a shotgun the couple was trying to sell. The victims said Davis was intoxicated when he got to the house and became agitated, then tried to fight the victim.
Davis then ran to a back bedroom where the couple's children were, but the mother, who is pregnant, stepped in his way. That's when Davis punched the woman, grabbed a gun and threatened to shoot the couple.
They were able to push Davis out of the house, and he ran away into the woods.
When deputies arrived, Davis was yelling that there was a green dot on him and he was going to be killed. Deputies said Davis ran back and forth shouting obscenities and refusing to come out of the woods.
Deputies were able to place Davis in handcuffs, but he began kicking and screaming, eventually falling to the ground. One deputy was kicked in the face, receiving only minor injuries.
Davis was transported to Russellville ER for evaluation. Investigators said Davis told them he had been shooting up meth and bath salts all day.
