I already miss the Olympics. For two weeks Americans watched Olympians from all over the world compete for Olympic glory. I rooted for the United States, but I really got excited when those connected with my home state of Mississippi competed.
Mississippi may be a small state, but we made a huge impact. Bianca Knight in the 4 X 100 meters relay, Brittney Reese in the long jump and Aries Merrit in the 110 meter hurdles came back with Olympic Gold medals, Michael Tinsley in the 400 meter hurdles and Trell Kimmons in the 4 X 100 meters relay won Silver medals and several others represented our state well.
The Olympics remind us that dedication, commitment and hard work produce great results. I can't wait for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I wonder if Mississippi will have anyone in the Winter Olympics in 2014?
