Man accused in Kosciusko murder arraigned

KOSCIUSKO, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man accused of murdering a Kosciusko businessman in 2007 remained behind bars Tuesday night in Mississippi.

52-year-old Theotus Barnett was brought to Attala County from Tennessee, Monday.

Barnett was charged in February 2011 in connection with the death of Daniel Tavares III. In 2007, Tavares was robbed, then beaten to death and suffocated at his used car dealership.

According to Breezynews.com, Barnett was arraigned on Tuesday in Attala County Court. His trial date is set for February 4, 2013.
