More murders in Jackson in 2012

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The city of Jackson has experienced a huge spike in murders this year. In fact, year to date, the increase is nearly 50% more from what we saw this time last year.

In most cases, the murderers and victims knew each other. But, overall, violent crime is up only slightly for the capital city. And Jackson is nowhere near being one of the most dangerous cities in America.

We are not even in the top 100 most dangerous cities in the country. But West Memphis, Memphis and Little Rock are in the top 25 most dangerous cities according to neighborhoodscout.com.

JPD is focusing on preemptive policing in troubled areas of the city and getting help from other law agencies.

Outsmarting the criminals, neighborhood watch groups, and swift justice are the keys to successfully combating crime.

That's my Point of View.
