Storms move rapidly across central Mississippi

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Saturday's fast moving storm system brought high winds and heavy rains to parts of the metro area.

Skies were dark and winds battered tree limbs as storms began to develop during the afternoon hours.

On High Street in Jackson lightning accompanied the downpours.

Motorists had to slow down on the rain covered roadway.

Storms downed some trees and power lines and caused brief flash flooding across parts of central Mississippi.

A tree reportedly fell on a vehicle near Star.

Another tree caught fire after a power line fell on it on Old Highway 49 South in Rankin county.

No injuries were reported.
