JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man charged with shooting a Jackson police officer was denied bond at a Monday morning court hearing.

Christopher Martin, 29, faces three felonies, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of convicted felon with a gun.

He entered a not guilty plea in Jackson courtroom.

Martin seemed very agitated and refused to answer one of the questions from the judge during the hearing.

Investigators believe Martin shot Officer Rodney Daniels on Saturday morning after responding to a call.

Swat teams and police assistance from neighboring communities were called in to set up a perimeter around Capitol street. After about four hours Martin was arrested.

Officer Daniels did have surgery and he's expected to make a full recovery.
