Former Anguilla town official arrested for embezzlement

SHARKEY COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A former Anguilla town clerk is facing charges.

Authorities say Manika Kelly was arrested for embezzlement following a grand jury indictment.

According to the state auditor's office, the alleged embezzlement totaled over $107,000.

Kelly served as town clerk from July 2001 through February 7, 2012 when she was terminated by the city.

She was booked by the Sharkey County Sheriff's Office and bond was set at $15,000.
