
Identity theft, stolen credit cards and Internet scams are wiping out some people financially. Thursday banking and law enforcement officials sat down together in a training session to fight fraud and Internet crime. The financial crimes summit was designed to share ways to catch crooks.
The training outlined what new scams consumers are being hit with. Scams can wipe out bank accounts and haunt you for years. Cathy Talbot is a vice president in the Security Department of BancorpSouth.
"A big scam right now with everybody looking for jobs is a work at home or mystery shopper. You receive a check to be a mystery shopping the checks are a scam," said Talbot.
Security specialists warned the group about new cyber crimes, financial and white collar crimes in hopes of helping to catch thieves and protect consumers who may fall victim.
