Corvette classic hopes to raise thousands for kids in need

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

If you admire classic and rare cars, think about bringing the family over to the Jackson Convention Complex on Saturday. That's where the 2012 Corvette Classic is taking place.

The classic fills up an entire floor inside of the Convention Complex. So far about 75 Corvette owners have signed up to show off their cars, but there's still space to show off more rides.

Every penny raised benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That's the organization that makes dreams come true for children living with life-threatening illnesses.

"We have over 100 children in the state awaiting their wish to be granted, these are children that are in life- threatening situations and it's very important that we take care of those wishes," said Bill Franks, the Event Chairman for the Mississippi Corvette Club.

The goal is to raise at least $15,000 this year.  The Corvette Classic is just $5 for adults and free for anyone 16 and under.
