Traffic detours costing Exxon store business

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The owner of an Exxon station at the busy intersection of Beasley Road and Watkins Drive says he no longer has customers lining up for lunch.

The store offers the usual fair, barbeque, beverages, and of course gas. But his clients have dropped off and he is not happy.

"I want somebody to fix the road. I called the city they not answer me anything," said Manoj Singh, store owner.

A large pile of dirt has replaced a small bridge on Beasley Road just up the street.

A new Subway will soon move in next door.

Singh says they too are anxious to get traffic moving in the area again. So are people who work on the other side in the northwest industrial park.

"It's actually making me late for work because I have to go up County Line Road and down Livingston Road into the Industrial Park," said Ezra Snell, who works in the area.

3 On Your Side called City of Jackson spokesman Chris Mims for answers. Mims says a pre-fabricated bridge is expected to be finished and delivered by the end of September.
