Tropical moisture from the Gulf will continue to stream into our area today. As temperatures warm into the middle and upper 80s this afternoon, showers and a few storms will develop. The best coverage of rain will be to the west of I-55, with showers remaining isolated east of I-55.
Sunday will be a drier day and also warmer. Highs in the lower 90s.
Isaac remains a strong tropical storm as it crosses Cuba today and tonight. The storm will move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Monday. It should begin to get stronger by then, likely becoming a hurricane.
There remain a lot of questions on where Isaac will ultimately end up. Though the official forecast track is for Isaac to make landfall along the Florida panhandle the middle of next week, Mississippi is NOT out of the woods. Some model data suggest Isaac will take longer to curve north, instead staying on a northwest track. If this were to happen, it could reach the Mississippi coast.
Of course I'll cover Isaac in detail on our newscasts throughout the weekend, but you can also get instant updates and I can answer your questions by following me on Twitter. Stay tuned!
