Weekend marred by fatal shooting

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are investigating the Capital City's latest homicide.

J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green said the shooting happened in the 1700 block of Barrett Avenue near McKinley.

Precinct two officers were called to the scene shortly before six p.m.

There they found a 36-year-old man shot three times.

He later died at a local hospital.

His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators did confirm that the fatal shooting took place at the man's residence.

One person, who has not been identified, was taken into custody for questioning by detectives.

The investigation is ongoing.
